1. Approval of Minutes of January 9, 2007

2. Discussion Regarding Remote Testing Sites for the Position of Engineering
Technician
Personnel Manager Randy Peck explained that the last test for this position was atake-
home test and the response was very poor. It is now recommended that the test be
revised and that remote testing sites be utilized. Four remote test sites have been
identified in Iowa and Illinois and all are located close to schools which offer two or four
year engineering technician degrees. Peck stated the testing could be done in two
different ways -the City could arrange for proctors from the respective schools or City
employees could travel to each of the locations. It was noted that if at all possible the
tests would be conducted on the same day; however the logistics would need to be
finalized after applications were received and arrangements made with the remote
sites.
Kluesner moved to authorize the use of remote testing sites for the position of
Engineering Technician, that the application deadline be set as 5:00 p.m. on February
12 or 19, and that the test be held at a date and time to be determined based on
applications received and City negotiations with the remote test sites with regard to
proctoring. Seconded by Duehr. Motion passed unanimously.
There being no further business, upon motion the meeting adjourned at 11:21 a.m.
