SUBJECT: Confirm Additional UDC Citizen Advisory Committee Member
Introduction
The City has hired JEO Consulting Group to assist with updating the Zoning and
Subdivision Ordinances, and then combining them with the Historic Preservation
Ordinance and City sign regulations into a Unified Development Code (UDC).
As part of the process for creating the UDC, the City Council confirmed in August, 2006
the membership for several committees that have been organized for this process.
Discussion
Input from community stakeholders, the general public, the Citizen Advisory Committee,
the Sign Review Advisory Committee, and the new Bluffland Advisory Committee will be
sought at the beginning of the UDC process.
The Citizen Advisory Committee will provide initial input on development issues and
process, react to the first draft UDC and the proposed final draft UDC, and then forward
recommendations to the Zoning Advisory Commission and City Council. The Citizen
Advisory Committee membership list is enclosed.
I have been contacted by Dr. Charles Winterwood, Chairperson of the Long Range
Planning Advisory Commission, about serving on the Citizen Advisory Committee. Dr.
Winterwood served on the Citizen Advisory Committee when we were working with the
previous UDC consultant. The Citizen Advisory Committee is relatively small, and has
met only once. I think the Committee would benefit by adding Dr. Winterwood. It also
will be relatively easy to bring Dr. Winterwood up to speed on the UDC process.
Recommendation
I recommend that the City Council confirm the addition of Dr. Charles Winterwood to the
UDC Citizen Advisory Committee.
