RE: Amended and Restated Greater Downtown Urban Renewal Plan
Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
On February 14, 2007, the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission reviewed the
proposed amendment to the Amended and Restated Greater Downtown Urban
Renewal Plan.
One of the roles of the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission is to review
proposed urban renewal plans and urban renewal plan amendments for consistency
with the comprehensive plan for the city.
Economic Development Director David Heiar reviewed that the amendment would more
clearly define the allowable uses in the Urban Renewal District to include the
rehabilitation, restoration, and renovation of historic buildings for public and
governmental uses, including the Public Library and former Federal Building.
By a vote of 7 - 0, the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission recommends
approval of the Amended and Restated Urban Renewal Plan for the Greater Downtown
Urban Renewal District.
Sincerely,
{,
Dr. Charles Winterwood, Chairperson
Long Range Planning Advisory Commission
