February 28, 2007
TO: Michael Van Milligen, City Manager
FROM: David J. Heiar, Economic Development Director
SUBJECT: Elimination of the Transportation Clerk Position
INTRODUCTION
Until December 30, 2006, Connie Booth had served as the Transportation Clerk for
Keyline Transit. Her duties included responsibility for grant management, payroll,
database record keeping/reporting and the tracking of operational expenses for
Keyline.
On February 20, 2007 the City Council approved a resolution to modify the
management contract with First Transit to include the duties formerly assigned to the
Transportation Clerk. Since this contract amendment was approved, it is no longer
necessary to retain the Transportation Clerk position.
BUDGET IMPACT
There is no budgetary impact to this change. The entry level for the Transportation
Clerk position with benefits would cost the City approximately $53,000. The amendment
to the First Transit contract is for an annual fee of $53,000.
RECOMMENDATION
Based on the approved contract amendment with First Transit, I recommend that the
City Council abolish the Transportation Clerk position.
ACTION STEP
The action step is for the City Council to approve the attached resolution.
