Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Elimination of Transportation Clerk Position Economic Development Director Dave Heiar recommends the City Council abolish the Transportation Clerk position at KeyLine Transit. These duties will become the responsibility of First Transit pursuant to the February 20, 2007 action of the City Council. Heiar, Economic Development Director SUBJECT: Elimination of the Transportation Clerk Position INTRODUCTION Until December 30, 2006, Connie Booth had served as the Transportation Clerk for Keyline Transit. Her duties included responsibility for grant management, payroll, database record keeping/reporting and the tracking of operational expenses for Keyline. On February 20, 2007 the City Council approved a resolution to modify the management contract with First Transit to include the duties formerly assigned to the Transportation Clerk. Since this contract amendment was approved, it is no longer necessary to retain the Transportation Clerk position. BUDGET IMPACT There is no budgetary impact to this change. The entry level for the Transportation Clerk position with benefits would cost the City approximately $53,000. The amendment to the First Transit contract is for an annual fee of $53,000. RECOMMENDATION Based on the approved contract amendment with First Transit, I recommend that the City Council abolish the Transportation Clerk position. ACTION STEP The action step is for the City Council to approve the attached resolution. F:IUSERS1DHeiar\TransitlElimination of Transportation Clerk Position memo to MVM.doc RESOLUTION NO. 148-07 ABOLISHING THE TRANSPORTATION CLERK POSITION Whereas, Connie Booth the KeyLine Transportation Clerk retired on December 30, 2006; and Whereas, the City Council has approved a contract amendment with First Transit to perform the job responsibilities of the Transportation Clerk; and Whereas, the City Council has determined it is in the public interest to abolish the Transportation Clerk position. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the position of Transportation Clerk is hereby abolished.
