Dear Mayor Duggan,
Mediacom was founded with the vision of creating a company that would bring the latest communications
technology and quality customer service to small and midsize communities across the nation. As each year
passes, we see more of this vision come to life. Mediacom customers are receiving more channels and
better value for their cable dollar than ever before. In keeping with our commilment, we are pleased to
introduce the following new channels effective in February:
Soapuet, SCI-FI, BRAVO
Like all companies, we need to change prices periodically to keep up with costs associated with rtmning
our business. Mediacom pays monthly fees for the programming we bring you. The cost to carry these
channels continues to increase dramatically, especially sports progranuning fees. The decision to increase
prices reflects the higher cost of programming and copyright fees, the costs to maintain and improve
Operations, and paying competitive wages to employees. Due to these factors, rate adjustments are
necessary at this time. The adjustments include a change to the Fmnily Cable rate. We are also introducing
new Digital cable packages in February. Existing Digital customers' current Digital programming
packages will continue. However, there will be a rate adjustment of $5.00. These changes will take effect
with the February billing statement:
Family Cable $ 36.95
(formerly Standard Cable includes broadcast basic)
Family Cable Senior Rate $33.59
Digital Cable Packages $ 5.00 increase
(includes Family Cable)
Legal notice of these changes will be provided in the local newspaper on or about December 28, 2001, and
in a letter to our customers. Our commitment to you - today and in the future - is to offer the best
products, with the highest level of service and reliability. Quality customer service will continue to be our
