4 2 07 AIA Iowa Proclamation WHEREAS, the profession of Architecture in Iowa strives to protect the public’s health, safety, and well being, and the Architecture of Iowa is nationally known for its quality of design; and WHEREAS, the Architecture of Iowa reflects, promotes, and celebrates the cultural heritage and values of the state; and WHEREAS , the profession of Architecture in Iowa is working to build a better future for the state through well- planned, well-designed buildings and communities that embrace principles of livability and sustainability; and th WHEREAS , the American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter, is celebrating the 150 anniversary of the Institute’s founding in New York on April 15, 1857, and as part of that celebration is seeking to engage Iowa communities in creating healthier, safer, and more dynamic places to live, work and play. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF APRIL 2007, AS “ARCHITECTURE MONTH” IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, IN CELEBRATION OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ARCHITECTS AND IN RECOGNITION OF THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF TH ARCHITECTS’ 150 ANNIVERSARY.
