Installation of JFK Sidewalks_Dolores Maggio CommunicationMarch 19th 2007 Re: Installation of Additional Sidewalks along JFK Road. 0 C C~ ~ _.. C) D ~'°' n 0 a N !V a i w a a ~~ s~ m On behalf of myself and my neighbors who reside on the west side of Gordon Drive, I wish to register a protest against such a mandate for our area. The situation has not changed since the last time this issue surfaced. There is still very little if any pedestrian traffic along the road in this area on our side of the road. And, there is seldom any foot traffic on the west side of the road even though the businesses there installed sidewalks. Therefore, it would seem that installing sidewalks on our side of the road would serve no useful purpose. Installation of sidewalks would place a financial burden on us and would create an ongoing horrendous problem for winter maintenance of these sidewalks. Although our properties border the road we do not have any access to the road itself. In the past we were assessed several times for improvements to the road. The last time we were assessed was for the build up and widening of the road. The grading necessary to complete this work resulted in the creation of very steep inclines to our backyard properties. These inclines would make the terrain virtually impossible for us to haul snow removal equipment up to the road through our backyards to clean the sidewalks, and driving around to reach the sidewalks would not be a viable option since there would be no place to park. A steel railing was installed along this area as a protective barrier from the auto traffic because the terrain is so steep. Please take our concerns into consideration before any further decision is made. Thank you. ~9
