RE: Bricktown Update
From November 1, 2006 through March 15, 2007 there were a total of 28 calls for
service to the area of Bricktown, with nine related to interior activities and the
remaining occurring near or in the vicinity. Those occurring in the vicinity
included calls related to traffic, suspicious circumstances, warrant service
attempts and/or arrests, criminal mischief to motor vehicles, alarms and
miscellaneous extra attentions.
Of the nine calls occurring inside Bricktown, there were two disturbances and
seven tavern inspections including the Girls Gone Wild Event, held November
17, 2006. Six of the tavern inspections were generated by Officers assigned to a
walking beat in the 100-300 blocks of Main Street as part of the normal patrol
function.
There were 11 alcohol related violations, including one assault, two disorderly
conducts, seven public intoxications and one violation for serving an intoxicated
person. There were no alcohol violations against the establishment.

Regarding the Girls Gone Wild Event held November 17th, 2006, the investigation
has been completed and reviewed by the Dubuque County Attorney's Office and
the City Attorney's Office. Although public displays of female breasts occurred
during the event, this was done by attending patrons and as presently written, not
a violation of the Iowa obscenity law.
The investigation did conclude with the issuance of two public intoxication
citations to two of the working bartenders with one receiving an additional citation
for serving herself as an intoxicated person. Of these citations, two have been
served and are set for pretrial hearing for March 22"d, 2007. The other is pending
service due to the subject being out of town attending college in Iowa City. At the
request of Deb Harlan, State of Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, the case
report has been submitted to her office for further review.
