RESOLUTION
IN THE MATTER OF THE DEATH OF ARNOLD N. HONKAMP
Whereas, the Iowa Flood Mitigation Board lost a valued member and leader on
January 4, 2014,
Whereas, Arnold N. Honkamp was a committed advocate and forward -thinking
leader for his community;
W hereas, he spent his career building his accounting business to become one of the
top CPA firms in the country, and took great satisfaction in helping others pursue the same
success;
Whereas, his tireless service spanned well beyond business to his community as
president of the Dubuque Jaycees and Dubuque Chamber of Commerce, as a parish director
and finance committee chairman of Saint Columbkille's Church, as a member of the finance
committee of the Archdiocese of Dubuque and Wahlert High School, and as benefactor to
Loras College;
Whereas, he served with excellence on the Iowa Flood Mitigation Board and had a
commitment to protecting the city of Dubuque and citizens around the state of Iowa from
the impacts of flooding;
Whereas, his kindness, enthusiasm and graciousness enriched those fortunate
enough to know and work with him;
Whereas, his legacy lies in the profound effect he had on the countless men and
women he helped throughout his career;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Iowa Flood Mitigation Board, by and through its
members, recognizes the significant contributions of Arnold N. Honkamp over the course of
his distinguished career and mourns his death; and extends its sincerest condolences to his
wife of 52 years, Joyce (Wubben) Honkamp and family.
