Meeting was called to order by Tom Giese at 4:07 p.m..
Gary Hillard motioned to postpone the appointing of a chairman until all members were present.
Seconded by Jack Papin. 4 Yea 0 Nay. Motion passed.
Discussion was held on the State of Iowa's adoption of the 2012 International Mechanical Code
and Energy code. The secretary handed out copies of a letter informing contractors of some of the
proposed Energy Code changes for their input. Tom Giese stated that the homebuilding
contractors should also be made aware of the changes. The secretary stated that he would inform
Rich Russell of the request. The board did not think that contractors should be allowed to test their
own -duct -systems -for -tightness Ga y -Hillard -asked what kind -of -qualifications -do -the -third party
raters have to acquire to be able to do the testing and what type of controls, if any are required
when a duct from the outside is attached to the return of an air handler. Also discussion was held
on the date that these minimum standards would go into effect. The secretary informed the board
it would probably be sometime in July but the state has already declared June 1, 2014.
