Thank you for contacting the Office of the Governor regarding Senate File 2362, which
the Governor signed on May 30, 2014.
The legislation was a compromise worked out by the affected parties. Our office has been
contacted by numerous stakeholders including; greyhound owners, breeders, kennel
operators, horse owners and city leaders in Council Bluffs and Dubuque.
Though this bill is far from perfect, the Governor signed the legislation because it
represents a long -negotiated compromise among the various stakeholders. Further, the
bill provides a retraction of gaming in the State of Iowa.
