MECHANICAL BOARD

Meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. by Chairman Tom Giese, and announced that
it was being conducted in accordance with the Iowa Open Meetings Law.
Order of business was as follows:
Discussion was held on vent-less kitchen hoods. Staff said that the hoods had the
proper listing, the only question was proper ventilation.
The board ruled that no additional ventilation be required. Staff will contact Jeff Ries
with Rapids Wholesale Equipment and let them know that a mechanical contractor
licensed in the City of Dubuque still needs to take a permit out for the installation.
Discussion about codes changing in July.
Discussion was held about contractors not calling for inspections and the fact that
property owners are the probably the biggest violators of not permits and unlicensed
people doing the work.
Giese motioned to adjourn, seconded by Geisler. Meeting adjourned at 5:10 P.M.
