Proclamation_St. Mark's Apples for Students 2014WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS WHEREAS, P 1111 (-11 Du -13 Masterpiece no the Mississippi �c AMA I ON since 1988 St. Mark Youth Enrichment has existed to work with the families of Dubuque meet some of the unmet needs of their children; and St. Mark Youth Enrichment Education Committee and Board is dedicated to furthering the total learning experience of all children they work with; and St. Mark Youth Enrichment will again be leading the APPLES FOR STUDENTS program in the Dubuque community during the months of July and August 2014. This program collects money to buy basic school supplies for children of families who need help purchasing them. To date St. Mark Youth Enrichment has given out nearly 21,000 bags of school supplies; and local schools and human service agencies help St. Mark Youth Enrichment identify the 1,400 children in grades K-5 who need school supplies this year, and St. Mark Youth Enrichment invites the people of Dubuque to donate money to this program so school supplies can be purchased in bulk from local merchants and serve more children than they usually do. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THAT THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY BE DESIGNATED FOR THE COLLECTION OF MONEY TO BUY BASIC SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR NEEDY CHILDREN IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, AND URGE THE PEOPLE OF DUBUQUE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORTHWHILE PROJECT BY SUPPORTING ST. MARK YOUTH ENRICHMENT IN THEIR EFFORT TOWARD HELPING OUR CHILDREN.
