Chairperson Holz, following staff assurance of compliance with Iowa Open Meeting Law, called the meeting
to order at 4:00 pm.

Review and Certification of Minutes of 3 June 2014 Commission Meeting
Commissioner McDonell motioned to approve the minutes. Commissioner Baumhover seconded.
Commissioner Woods was not present at the time of voting. All others present in favor. Motion
passed.
Correspondence/Public Input
None
Crime Reports
Commissioners were provided a copy of the crime reports.
Old Business
Discussion of Veterans Preference Points
Commissioners were provided an article from the HUD website pertaining to Veterans and
homelessness. Commissioners were informed of local Veterans services through the VA that provide
assistance for emergency and housing needs. It was explained to all commissioners present that if we
have any local preference points there must be a documented need in our jurisdiction and it must be
addressed in our consolidated plan. There were continued conversations and suggestions pertaining to
Veterans, homelessness and preference points. There was a request made to bring in an employee from
the VA office to speak to the Housing Commission.
New Business
Appoint Liaisons to Various Committees and Commissions
Commissioner McDonell motioned to appoint Amy Eudaley as the Housing Commission Liaison to the
Housing Trust Fund Committee indefinitely. Commissioner Baumhover seconded. All others present
in favor. Motioned passed. Chairperson Holz motioned to approve Commissioner Woods as the
Housing Conunission Liaison to the Community Development Advisory Committee. Commissioner
McDonell seconded. All others present in favor. Motion passed.
Information Sharing
Erica Haugen shared information pertaining to upcoming focus group meetings to identify needs in the
community. The consolidated plan is going to start fiscal year 2016 and continue through fiscal year
2020. Part of the plan will focus on special needs, housing needs, and a housing analysis.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at 4:28 pm.
