Proclamation_Health Center WeekTHE CITY OF Duti Masterpiece on the Mississippi PRO CLAMAT ON Whereas, For nearly 50 years, community health centers have provided high quality, cost effective, and accessible primary and preventative care to all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay and; Whereas, Health centers are the health care home for over 22 million Americans through more than 9,000 delivery sites. One in fifteen people in the United States uses their services and; Whereas, Health centers are locally -controlled by patient -majority boards, making each health center responsive to the needs of its community and; Whereas, As locally owned and operated small businesses, health centers serve as critical economic engines helping local economies by generating billions of dollars in combined economic impact and job creation and; Whereas, Since October 2006, Crescent Community Health Center has provided accessible and affordable health and dental care; in 2013, serving over 5,700 patients for a total of 14,230 medical and dental visits and; Whereas, The Health center model is an effective means of overcoming barriers to access including geography, income and insurance status, improving health care outcomes and reducing health care costs and; Whereas, Health centers save the entire health system approximately $24 billion annually by managing chronic conditions and keeping patients out of costlier health care settings and; Whereas, National Health Center Week recognizes health centers' dedicated staff, board members, and those responsible for the success and growth of the program. During this National Health Center Week, we recognize the significant contributions of America's Health Centers in their vital role as local engines for healthier communities, a healthier Dubuque, and a healthier America and; NOW, THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 10-16, 2014 AS "HEALTH CENTER WEEK" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY LEADERS TO VISIT CRESCENT COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER OR THEIR LOCAL HEALTH CENTER AND CELEBRATE THE IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN AMERICA'S HEALTH CENTERS AND THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE.
