PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The Dubuque Convention and Visitors Bureau will celebrate May as
National Tourism Month; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque has become a leader in the travel and tourism industry hosting
over 1.5 million visitors annually; and
WHEREAS, Regional Tourism efforts of the Dubuque CVB have created new
partnerships in the tri-state area; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque County has seen a substantial increase in traveler spending
from $167 million in 2002 to $214 million in 2005; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque ranks 6th out of the 99 counties in the state of Iowa in traveler
spending and welcomes visitors from all 50 states and 47 foreign
countries annually.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF MAY 2007, AS
"NATIONAL TOURISM MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
