City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends award of the contract to the low bidder, Klauer Development Corporation, in the amount of $62,696, which is 6.24% under the engineer's estimate of $66,869. Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer SUBJECT: 3rd Floor Office Expansion Project -Dubuque City Hall CIP 102-1822: Engineering Office Expansion - 3~d Floor CIP 102-1820: Traffic Control Area on 3~d Floor of City Hall INTRODUCTION The enclosed resolution awards the construction contract for the 3rd Floor Office Expansion Project -Dubuque City Hall to Klauer Development Corporation. DISCUSSION The 3rd Floor Office Expansion Project -Dubuque City Hall will consist of adding three offices, a small conference room and a traffic control area on the east side of the 3~d floor of City Hall. The new traffic control area will be used to house a traffic management center that will be under development over the next several years with primary funding through various Iowa Clean Air Attainment grants. BID RESULTS Sealed competitive quotations were received on the project on April 27, 2007. Klauer Development Corporation of Dubuque, Iowa, submitted the low quotation in the amount of $62,696.00. This amount is 6.24% under the engineer's estimate of $66,869.00. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: That a Public Improvement Contract for the Project is hereby awarded to Klauer Development Corporation and the City Manager is hereby directed to execute a Public Improvement Contract on behalf of the City of Dubuque for the Project.
