Proclamation_Welcome Students Week PROCLAMATION Whereas, the citizens of City of Dubuque and the Greater Dubuque region greatly value our local institutions of higher learning as tremendous assets; and Whereas, Capri College, Clarke University, Emmaus Bible College, Loras College, Northeast Iowa Community College, University of Dubuque and Wartburg Theological Seminary are respected members of the community; and Whereas, economic development, community improvement, cultural diversity and enrichment and a service-minded citizenry in Dubuque are based on education; and Whereas, Dubuque’s institutions of higher learning have a tremendous positive impact on our local and regional economy. Our colleges and universities create the talented workforce we need for continued growth; and Whereas, the City of Dubuque appreciates the efforts of the faculty, staff and students at each institution; and Whereas, the leaders of the City of Dubuque seek to welcome all who pursue a higher education in the All-America City of Dubuque Iowa. NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 18-22, 2014 AS “” WELCOME STUDENTS WEEK IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
