Anders Dahlgren from Library Planning Services will visit Dubuque and Asbury
on May 24 to begin his study of west side library service. As part of the Envision
2010 ideas, he will evaluate the entire west side without regard to geographical
boundaries or traditional models of service. If Dahlgren determines a library
building is needed in this area, he will recommend several locations as well as
size and provide a building program recommendation. Dahlgren is being paid for
his services through a grant from the State Library of Iowa.

Campaign update – The silent phase of the campaign will kick off Friday night
with a private reception for potential large donors. To date we have received or
have pledged $175,300. Chair Jim Normandin has announced his cabinet
members to date who include: Tim Conlon, Donnelle Fuerste, Brian Southwood,
Paul Peckosh, Bob Peacock, and Kim David. He has a few more invitations out
for others to join the cabinet. Local Campaign Manager, Maynard Phillips
addressed the board and said that he would have a full assessment of where the
campaign is at and where it needs to go by Friday, May 5.
?
About 60 citizens attended the board meeting regarding a program scheduled for
June 12 on tarot card reading. The board heard presentations representing both
sides of the issue. One half felt that the program was based on the occult and is a
type of religion. Others felt the program was the opposite and saw it as providing
entertainment. The topic might be discussed again at the May Board meeting.
