Roy:
I am writing regarding the article written in the Friday, April 4th edition of the Telegraph Herald regarding Genuine
Genius possibty locating to Dubuque.
I am all for new businesses moving to Dubuque and creating new, better paying jobs for its residents. However,
as a small business owner, I do not agree with handing these businesses $40,000.00 worth of incentives to open
their businesses just to employee 13 (possibty up to 50) people. I just don't see how so few jobs is going to make
such a huge impact on this community. Now, if a business would create 200 jobs, that would impact the
community!
I am sure I can find at least 25 small business that have employed at least 2 employees each that would love to
receive funding to help expand, me being one. I would love to create better, more high paying jobs for local
people but do not have the funds in which to make my dream a reality.
If Dubuque is going to hand funds out, why not start at home? Doesn't it make more sense to help what is
already here and those who are paying the taxes that keep this city running?
Please take a second look at where our tax money is going.
Thank you for considering my proposal.
