PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the United State Army was established by the First Continental

Congress on the 14 day of June, 1775; and
WHEREAS, the United States Army exists to defend the freedom of our citizens
and our nation’s security interests
; and
WHEREAS many citizens of Dubuque have served their nation and given the
,
ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the
United States Army; and
WHEREASit is proper to recognize the United States Army annually on its
,
birthday, and thank those who have served and those who are
presently serving.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF JUNE 11-17, 2007 AS
“UNITED STATES ARMY MONTH”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND EXHORT ALL CITIZENS TO JOIN IN THIS
SALUTE AS WE EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED
AND THOSE WHO ARE NOW SERVING TO PROTECT OUR NATION AND ITS
FREEDOM.
