City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends City Council approval of the plans,
specifications, form of contract and the estimated cost of $59,117.60 for the York and
Curtis Storm Sewer Improvements Project.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council

SUBJECT: York and Curtis Storm Sewer Improvements Project

INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolution is in reference to the public hearing for the York and Curtis
Storm Sewer Improvements Project.
BACKGROUND
Homes in the Curtis Street area have experienced property damage due to flooding
during heavy rains. The project includes additional catch basins and an additional 30-
inch diameter storm sewer to all but eliminate the threat of flood damage from major
rains.
DISCUSSION
The York and Curtis Street Storm Sewer Improvements Project involves the
construction of 180 feet of 30-inch and various other storm sewer piping to complete the
system. It will also provide for two addition catch basins.
BUDGET IMPACT
The estimate of probable cost for the York and Curtis Storm Sewer Improvement
Project is as follows:
Construction $45,561.45
Contingency 4,556.16
Design & Engineering 9,000.00
Total Project Estimate $59,117.60
The project will be funded with the Fiscal Year 2006 Capital Improvement Project (CIP
7201031) with a balance of $62,459.
RECOMMENDATION
recommend that the City Council adopt the resolution approving the plans,
specifications, form of contract and the estimated cost for the York and Curtis Storm
Sewer Improvements Project.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to approve the resolution adopting the plans,
specifications, form of contract and the estimated cost for the York and Curtis Storm
Sewer Improvements Project.

ESTIMATED COST FOR THE YORK AND CURTIS STORM SEWER
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
That the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for
the York and Curtis Storm Sewer Improvements Project, in the estimated amount
$59,117.60, are hereby approved.
