the German and Slavic heritage of the Dubuque area are an
important part of the community's character and identity; and
Oktoberfest is a traditional event of German and Slavic music, dance
and games that for hundreds of years have welcomed the coming
harvests and the approaching fall; and
the 6th Annual Dubuque Oktoberfest is sponsored by Sedgwick,
Premier Bank, McCoy Group, and Weber Paper and numerous other
sponsors as a benefit for Camp Albrecht Acres as well as
reestablishing German Traditions in Dubuque. The event will be held
from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Alliant Amphitheater at Dubuque
Star Brewery on Saturday, September 27, 2014!
NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. O'BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 27T" DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2014, AS
"DUBUQUE OKTOBERFEST DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT.
