Over its 35-year history, RAGBRAI® has traveled through 775 Iowa
communities. Although the bicycle route does not come through your
community this year, the alternate vehicle route wi11.
Approximately 10,000 cyclists will journey from Rock Rapids to Bellevue from
July 22-28, 2007. In order to support the riders along the way, thousands of
non-riders will be driving vehicles to meet up with friends and family in
designated meeting towns and overnight towns. An estimated 1,500 vehicles
(trucks, cars, buses, RVs and other vehicles) will be traveling these roads,
carefully avoiding the bicycle traffic on the RAGBRAI route.
We feel it is appropriate to inform you of the increased traffic that will be
traveling through your community. If you could please make your businesses
aware of the potential visitors and any other entities that you feel should be
informed of the increased traffic on this day.
Enclosed you will find a map of the vehicle route for the day that the support
drivers will be coming through your town.
