PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Irish heritage of the Dubuque area is an important part of the
community’s character and identity; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh School of Irish Dance is one of many local
organizations that celebrate Dubuque’s Irish heritage; and
WHEREAS, an Irish Hooley is a traditional evening of music, song, and dance
that for generations was the highlight of Irish social life; and

WHEREAS, the Claddagh Irish Dancers are hosting the 3 Annual Irish Hooley as
a benefit for Hospice of Dubuque, Claddagh Irish Dancers, and the
Dubuqueland Irish for future Irish cultural events in Dubuque from 1
p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Alliant Amphitheater on August 25, 2007.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Roy D. O’Buol, do hereby proclaim August 25, 2007,
AS
“IRISH HOOLEY DAY”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT.
