The FiVe Flags Commission meeting convened at 9:04 a.m. in the Majestict~Roo~t Fiv~e
Flags Center. Chairperson Cynthia Fuller presided.
Minutes of December 17, 2001 meeting were approved.
Manager Wolfe requested that agenda items 3 and 4 be moved up leaving agenda item 2,
Reports on Functions of Management Areas last. All Commission members agreed on this
change.
Gil Spence reported on the progress of the Five Flags study. Copies of the revised
Request for Proposal (RFP) will be distributed to Commission members soon. Rod Bakke
added a brief description on the meeting materials that were covered. Gil Spence added
that the meeting expanded on what needs the community would like the Five Flags Center
to focus on and move towards in the futura with the new Convention Center being built.
During New Business/Old Business the Commission members wanted to know if the memo
written by the Dubuque Thunderbirds regarding certain repairs needed were resolved.
Spence explained that the repairs to the locker room door had been completed, and other
options are being considered in regards to repairs that need to be made to the Zamboni
gate. Cindy Fuller suggested that the superior of the person that was here in October for
Rink Systems, be contacted regarding the lack of communication being made in order to
solve this problem. Gil said that he would look into that matter. The theft problem should
be under control. Alt outside locks to the building have been changed to prevent
unauthorized people from entedng the building.
Rod Bakke wanted to know if Gil Spence had heard any feed back from the letter he wrote
to Brian Gallagher regarding the stolen trophies. Gil said that he has not heard anything
from Bdan Gallagher but would try to contact him by phone. Gary Dolphin thought
whoever bought the franchise, the trophies would belong to the new owners. Cindy Fuller
said that she thought some one was looking into the Telegraph Herald archives to find a
news article regarding the trophies being given to the city.
The Commissioners then proceeded into the functions of management areas. Jamie Blum,
Events Coordinator and Daniel Holtkamp, Technical Director gave brief descriptions of their
duties. Members asked questions regarding these duties and Dan and Jamie answered all
questions to their satisfaction. More positions will be focused on in the March commission
meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:39 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Cynthia Fuller
