SUBJECT: Town Clock Renovation Project, C.I.P. #102-1215
Leisure Services Manager Gil Spence recommends City Council approval of the plans,
specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost in the amount of $195,250 for the
Town Clock Renovation Project.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Town Clock Renovation Project, C.I.P. #102-1215
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to request that the City Council approve the plans,
specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost for the Town Clock Renovation
Project.
DISCUSSION
The FY 2007 C.I.P. budget contains $195,250 for phase I of the Town Clock Renovation
Program. The Durrant Group has conducted an analysis of the clock so we could
develop a renovation plan.
Phase I will include applying an E.I.F.S. finish to the pedestal base of the clock,
replacing the electrical system and interior lighting, repairing the worst places on the
exterior of the clock, and painting the clock.
Phase II of the renovation will be included in the C.I.P. budget in seven years when the
clock needs to be painted again. Phase II will include additional repairs to the exterior
of the clock, lighting the exterior, and painting the clock.

The estimate of probable cost is as follows:

APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, FORM OF CONTRACT, AND ESTIMATED
COST FOR THE TOWN CLOCK RENOVATION PROJECT
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA:
That the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for the
Town Clock Renovation Project, in the estimated amount of $165,000, are hereby
approved.
