SUBJECT: Support for Passenger Rail Service between Dubuque and Chicago
Dear Mr. Ravada:
The City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission unanimously supports the
Dubuque Envision 2010 initiative of passenger rail service between Dubuque, Iowa and
Chicago, Illinois.
For over a century, Dubuque enjoyed passenger rail service to Chicago. Now is the
time to make this service available again. The resurgence of Dubuque's Riverfront and
downtown offer opportunities to make this venture profitable. The City's commitment to
a Green City Initiative speaks of Dubuque's support for sustainable transportation
options like passenger rail service.
