Minutes Library Board 8 9 07a~~~~~A~ Carnegie-Stout Public Library Board of Trustees' Worksession Minutes of August 9, 2007 The Board of Trustees of the Carnegie-Stout Public Library (C-SPL) held a worksession in the Library Auditorium at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2007. Present.• President Alan Avery; Vice President Sue Lindsay; Secretary Kristen Smith; Trustee Beverly Kolz; Trustee Diann Guns; Trustee Becky Hauder; Trustee Michael Shubatt; Library Director Susan Henricks; and Recorder Denette Kellogg. 1. Board President Alan Avery called the meeting to order 5:07 p.m. and the agenda was adopted. "Moved to adopt the meeting agenda of tune 28, 2007 with the addition of agenda item S.B. to discuss the Dubuque, Iowa City Ordinance pertaining to the sa/e of donated items " Motion; Shubaft Second.• Smith Vote: Aye - 7; Nay - 0 2. Library Building renovation Project Meeting with the Campaign Cabinet and Building Architect: Discussion was held among Library Board of Trustees members, Capital Campaign Cabinet members, the Library Director, and Bruce Hamous from OPN Architects regarding the design plan for the Library renovation. Particular aspects of the design such as the use of the glass floor mezzanine as a reading room, and the location of Administration offices were discussed in-depth so that all understood how the design had evolved to its present state and the rationale behind decisions made in the use and placement of these two areas. The Cabinet will hold another meeting to determine if recommendations need to be made to the Board. 3. Approve Language for the Future Lace Trust Board Room -Henricks reviewed the proposed language for the Lacy Board Room as part of the upcoming building renovation. The Board concurred with the following proposed language: 'The Lacy Board Room Given by the C/ine W, and Mona M. Lacy Trusts This Board Room is dedicated in honor of the services and leadership of Benjamin W. Lacy and Frank R. Lacy. Benjamin Lacy he/ped transform the Young Men s Library Association into the free public Carnegie Stout Library and remained active through his service on the Library Board unti/his death in 1912. His son, Frank R. Lacy, fol%wed him on the Library Board, 1912-1951. " 4. Library Board Adjournment -The Board adjourned at 7:00 p.m. "Motion to adjourn.
