INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to forward a recommendation from the Cable TV Tele-
Programming Commission to approve two requests for funding from the Capital Grant for
Access Equipment and Facilities.
BACKGROUND
The Capital Grant for Access Equipment and Facilities created by the cable franchise
agreement that went into effect on June 5, 2005, began FY08 with a balance of $285,721.
Quarterly adjustments and interest have added $11,293 this fiscal year. Currently there is a
balance to be awarded of $129,912.
Last night the Commission recommended two grants from this fund:
• $3,000 for Wahlert High School for a portable lighting kit and some audio equipment to
improve the quality of the many programs that originate from the gymnasium. Wahlert is
a frequent contributor to educational access Channel 17.
• $15,000 for the City to upgrade the Media Room at the Historic Federal Building. This
grant will enable us to expand the capabilities of that room by turning it into a studio as
well. The grant will allow us to double the inputs to the video switcher and permanently
wire inputs for three studio cameras as well as provide lighting for the green chroma key
wall and an interview set.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
I respectfully request that the Commission's recommendations for these requests be forwarded
to the City Council to receive, file, and approve. Thank you.
