SUBJECT: Five Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement Project
CIP Project #1514 and 1885
Leisure Services Manager Gil Spence is recommending City Council approval of the
plans, specifications, form of contract and the estimated cost of $680,000 for the Five
Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement Project.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Five Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement Project

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to request the City Council hold a public hearing on
the Five Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement Project.
DISCUSSION
The FY 2008 C.I.P. budget contains $600,000 for the HVAC replacement and $70,000
for the promenade roof replacement. Two alternates are also being bid: one is for
replacement of the hot water boiler and hot water heater ($175,000) and the other is the
condensing unit in the theater ($43,000).
BUDGET IMPACT
The estimate of probable cost is as follows:
Construction contract $ 680,000
Design 65,000
Total $ 745,000
Alternate #1 175,000
Alternate #2 43.000
$ 963,000
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council approve the plans, specifications, form of contract
and the estimated cost for the Five Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement
Project.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
That the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for
the Five Flags HVAC and Promenade Roof Replacement Project, in the estimated
amount of $680,000, are hereby approved.
