Spence, Leisure Services Ma SUBJECT: Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II, #1114 INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the City Council accept the Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II. DISCUSSION The Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II has been completed by Smith Seeding, Inc. in the final contract amount of $231,417. A summary of the project costs is as follows: Bid Amount Final Cost construction contract $ 240,657 $ 231,417 The difference in the final cost from the bid is because the quantity of mulch and planting soils was less than the plans called for. Silt fence ($1,200) was not needed and reflects on the reduced price. The FY 2006 C.I.P. budget contains $245,000 for this project, $144,842 from the TE grant and $100,000 of IDOT funds from the Living Roadway Trust Fund. A summary of total project costs are as follows: construction contract $ 231,417 design/inspection 15,000 TOTAL $ 246,417 Highway 20, Phase II, page two The final inspection bill has not been received so the $15,000 design/inspection number is an estimate. Any budget overrun will come from savings from the Murphy Park Tennis Court Parking Lot Paving Project. NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed to pay to the contractor from the General Fund in amount equal to the amount of his contract, less any retained percentage provided for therein. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be $231,417, and the said amount shall be paid from the General Fund of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
