FROM: Gil D. Spence, Leisure Services Ma
SUBJECT: Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II, #1114
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the City Council accept the
Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II.
DISCUSSION
The Highway 20 Landscaping Project, Phase II has been completed by Smith Seeding,
Inc. in the final contract amount of $231,417. A summary of the project costs is as
follows:
Bid Amount Final Cost
construction contract $ 240,657 $ 231,417
The difference in the final cost from the bid is because the quantity of mulch and
planting soils was less than the plans called for. Silt fence ($1,200) was not needed
and reflects on the reduced price.
The FY 2006 C.I.P. budget contains $245,000 for this project, $144,842 from the TE
grant and $100,000 of IDOT funds from the Living Roadway Trust Fund.
A summary of total project costs are as follows:
construction contract $ 231,417
design/inspection 15,000
TOTAL $ 246,417
Highway 20, Phase II, page two
The final inspection bill has not been received so the $15,000 design/inspection number
is an estimate. Any budget overrun will come from savings from the Murphy Park
Tennis Court Parking Lot Paving Project.

The action requested is that the City Council adopt the attached resolutions accepting
