form of contract and the estimated cost of $355,875 for the Bee Branch Floodwall
Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project.

INTRODUCTION
The attached resolution is in reference to the public hearing for the Bee Branch Floodwall
Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project.
BACKGROUND
In the fiscal year 2008 Capital Improvement Project budget, funds are budgeted for the
purchase and installation of an auxiliary power generator for the Bee Branch Floodwall
Pumping Station.
DISCUSSION
Architectural and engineering plans and specifications for this project have been completed by
IIW Engineering & Surveyors, P.C. Other improvement projects related to the Bee Branch
Pumping Station were recently completed by the Kluck Construction Company. This final
project provides for the purchase and installation of adiesel-fueled, auxiliary power generator
which would provide power to run the floodwall's Bee Branch pumps during power outages.
The schedule for the project is proposed as follows:
Advertisement of Bids December 7, 2007
Notice of Public Hearing December 7, 2007
Public Hearing December 17, 2007
Receipt of Bids January 3, 2008
Award of Contract January 22, 2008
BUDGET IMPACT
The cost estimates for the project are as follows:
Construction Contract $328,081.00
Contingency $ 17,794.00
Engineering $ 10,000.00
This project will be funded with monies budgeted specifically for the Bee Branch Floodwall
Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project in the Public Works Department's FY 2008 Capital
Improvement Projects budget:
CIP# - 10111377 $355,875.00
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council approve the plans, specifications, form of contract, and the
estimated cost for the Bee Branch Floodwall Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to approve the plans, specifications, form of contract and
the estimated cost for the Bee Branch Floodwall Pumping Station Auxiliary Power
Project.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:.
That the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for
the Bee Branch Floodwall Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project, in the estimated
amount $355,875.00, are hereby approved.
