CVB Board,
Good morning. Last night at the 2015 Iowa Tourism Conference in Fairfield the Dubuque community
received three awards. The Outstanding Event of the Year went to America's River Festival. This is
the 2nd time in the last 6 years that ARE has been recognized as the top event in the State of Iowa The
Hotel Julien Dubuque received the Outstanding Lodging award. This award is given to a lodging
property that demonstrates excellence in supporting and growing tourism in Iowa. This is a well-
deserved award for the HJD staff and tremendous recognition for all of their efforts in the Dubuque
community. The last award was the People's Choice Award that went to Dig In! Iowa's Ag
Innovation Tour. This is the collaboration between Ames, Quad Cities, Waterloo and Dubuque to
promote our destination to foreign in bound travelers. I have spoken about this partnership at different
board meetings over the last couple of years. This is a partnership I am very proud of and is a rarity
within the Travel Industry and we are starting to see good results from bookings from these efforts.
Marketing has created a press release that we are sending out to our media contacts in regards to these

Good morning. Last night at the 2015 Iowa Tourism Conference in Fairfield, the America's River
Festival was awarded the "Outstanding Event for 2015". This is the 2nd time that ARE has been awarded
this prestigious award, the other was 2009. The CVB staff was very excited about this recognition from
our peers in the Travel Industry in the State as the America's River Festival continues its growth as one
of the premier events in the Midwest. We would like to Thank all of you and your organizations for all
of your support over the last 12 years of the existence of the Grand Excursion and the America's River
Festival. We are sending a press release out to all of our media contacts about this and two other awards
