This project will greatly increase our understanding of the groundwater system and the hydro-geologic functions throughout the Dubuque Community, and specifically within the Catfish Creek and Bee Branch Watersheds. There is a sufficient lack of mapping data relating to both surficial and bedrock elements in the watershed. This understanding is long awaited and essential for addressing concerns with water conservation, water supply, and studies related to droughts and floods. We foresee that the STATEMAP map products will significantly aid in the modeling work conducted by the USGS (and further inform the Catfish Creek and Bee Branch stakeholders, and IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering). We hope that you will recognize the value and importance of this proposal and provide much-needed funding for the mutual benefit of the group of stakeholders in the Dubuque Community. Sincerely, Michael C. Van Milligen City Manager L ^'r Catfish Creek Watershed Authority Board To reduce the risks of flooding and its effects, improve water quality and promote a healthier r yy existencefor all living things that call the Catfish Creek Watershed home. This project will greatly increase our understanding of the groundwater system and the hydro-geologic functions throughout the Dubuque community, and specifically in the Catfish Creek Watershed. There is a sufficient lack of mapping data relating to both surficial and bedrock elements in the watershed. This understanding is long awaited and essential for addressing concerns with water conservation, water supply, and studies related to droughts and Floods. In 2012, the Catfish Creek Watershed Authority Board (CCWAB) was created to take address water quality and Flooding challenges in the Catfish Creek watershed. Recently, this organization just finished a watershed management plan for Catfish Creek. While assessing the watershed over an 18-month period, data related to groundwater mapping was significantly lacking in the watershed. As the conservation practices continued to be installed in the watershed (over the next several years) the CCWAB strongly believes in the benefits to having such data available before the installation of final practices. We foresee that the STATEMAP map products will significantly aid in the modeling work conducted by the USGS (and further inform the Catfish Creek stakeholders, and IIHR- Hydroscience& Engineering(for the Catfish Creek Watershed). We hope that you will recognize the value and importance of this proposal and provide much-needed funding for the mutual benefit of the group of stakeholders in the Dubuque Community.
