Minutes_Cable TV Commission 10 14 15 MINUTES OF CABLE TV COMMISSION MEETING October 14, 2015 CITY HALL ANNEX — 1 st FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM #1 MEMBERS PRESENT: Kathy McMullen (Chair), Ron Tigges (Vice-Chair), Jennifer Tigges, Pauline Maloney, Sr. Carol Hoverman, Alan Vincent, Mark Dolson. MEMBERS ABSENT: None. OTHERS PRESENT: Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque Jim Barefoot, Mediacom McMullen called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. Acceptance of the Agenda Upon a motion by Maloney, seconded by Vincent, the Agenda was modified to remove item #8, the Channel 8 Analog Replacement Test, because it was discussed at the August 5, 2015, meeting. The motion passed 7 - 0. Approval of the Minutes of August 5, 2015 Upon a motion by Hoverman, seconded by RTigges, the Minutes were approved 7 - 0. Oaths of Office Commissioners Vincent, Hoverman, and Dolson took and signed their oaths of office. The New Commissioner Dolson introduced himself and provided some background on his life and why he chose to join the Commission. Everyone else introduced themselves. Public Input There was no public input. CityChannel Dubuque HD Nowack informed the Commission that the City Manager has given the approval to move forward with CityChannel Dubuque going HD. Nowack discussed the timeline of the City moving towards an HD channel beginning with the acquisition of the first HD camera back in 2008. He also outlined the steps yet to go. Request for Funding Nowack presented a request for $47,130 some items necessary to go HD, including a new on-air playback server and a new bulletin board graphics server. Hoverman moved to approve up to $48,000 for the request. The motion was seconded Vincent and approved 7 - 0. Mediacom Cable Report Barefoot reported on some routing/IP issues at the public access facility which prevented the proper operation of Channel 81 over the weekend. Those issues have been resolved. He also noted that Mediacom has installed a new HD monitor in its lobby, and the Central Alternative Learning Center has expressed interest in learning to produce a PSA. Cable TV Report Nowack reported on the various projects now being worked on in the Cable TV Division, notably the three programs that will be produced from last week's Growing Sustainable Communities conference. He also updated the Commission on the certification process for the drone. 1 Adjournment Upon a motion by JTigges, seconded by Vincent, the meeting was adjourned at 4:41 p.m. 2
