Oak St Petition - truck trafficFebruary 25th, 2002 To Mayor Terry Duggan, We are writing to you expressing our concerns over the constant flow of dump trucks that have been dumping their loads on the end of Oak Street since last summer. Ever since Perry's Construction purchased this land we have had excessive mounts of dump trucks and pick-up tracks on our newly blacktopped street. They have been dumping blacktop, chunks of cement, dirt, limbs, and materials from construction on the purchased land. The dump trucks start dumping at 7:00am and stop around 9:30pm. When the previous owner still owned the land he was told by the city to clean up his land of papers and other debris. Why should Perry's Construction get away with dumping this debris on the land when the previous owner couldn't have paper floating around? River City Paving Division told the property owners last summer that the dump trucks will eventually ruin the newly blacktopped road. As taxpayers when the damage is done to the street who will be footing the bill? This used to be a quiet street with only the traffic of 5 houses. Now we have the vibrations of our windows and the noise from the dump trucks keeping us, and a terminally ill woman from getting any peace and quiet. We tried contacting several people from City Hall and was told nothing could be done. Our question to you is would you like to live on a street that used to be like an alley where our children could play in the street and now it is not safe anymore? Back to the question we asked earlier who will be paying for the new street when it is ruined by the excessive usage by dump trucks? How are you going to resolve this problem? Please reply to this letter. Sincerely, The property owners of Oak St. Richard W Hillebrand 976 Oak St mr & Mrs Dan Walber 965 Oak St Esther Wisner 925 Oak st Cecile Rupp 888 oak st Joan Reimer 945 oak st
