ITEM TITLE: Rotary of Dubuque 100th Anniversary(February 18, 2016) SUMMARY: SUGGESTED DISPOSITION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Type Dubuque Rotary 100th Anni ersary Proclamation Supporting Documentation THE CITY OF 0 DUBBf&E Masterpiece on the Mississippi P_11DX0CLAMAT10N WHEREAS, the Rotary International motto "Service Above Self" inspires members to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and promote good will and peace in the world; and WHEREAS, Rotary clubs fund projects and sponsors volunteers with community expertise to provide medical supplies, health care, clean water, food production, job training, and education to millions in need, particularly in developing countries; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Dubuque is one of the largest and most active service organizations in northeastern Iowa; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Dubuque has been a force for goodwill and community service since 1916; and WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Dubuque has a strong tradition of volunteerism with fundraising for local charities and assisting several non-profits through their humanitarian grant program, giving our business people across the community a chance to channel their philanthropic desires; and WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Dubuque is governed by the principles of Rotary International, which has assisted in nearly eradicating polio around the world and is now charging forward with providing clean water to all nations. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 18t" DAY OF FEBRUARY AS: ROTARY OF DUBUQUE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION DAY IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
