Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Todd Carr, Building Services Manager SUBJECT: Permit Fee Revisions DATE: February 29, 2016 Introduction: The purpose of this memorandum is to submit to you a copy of our proposed FY2017 permit and license Fee changes and increases for your review and approval. This resolution would revise the City of Dubuque current permit and license fee structure while meeting targeted goals of becoming a more self-supported Department. Background: During our FY2017 Budget Presentation we presented to the Mayor and City Council our proposed 10% Fee Increase for all Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Permanent and Temporary Sign Permits, and Demolition. In addition we also proposed fee increases for annual licenses obtained for Vacant Buildings, Sign Contractor Licenses, Solar Thermal Licenses, Plan Review Fee, and Electrical Industrial Maintenance Licenses. The City of Dubuque has not increased their Permit or License Fees since FY2009. Discussion: These proposed fee changes will allow the Building Services Department to increase total revenue by an estimated $69,180.00 dollars annually to help meet our goal of becoming a self-supported Department. Recommendation: I recommend adoption of the attached resolution and fee increase and that the changes be effective July 1St, 2016.
