INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memo is to request that the City Council adopt a resolution to
update the rate schedule for hauled septage from private sources.
DISCUSSION
The rate structure for hauled septage to the Water & Resource Recovery Center is set
by resolution under Title 13 of the City of Dubuque Code of Ordinances, Public Utilities.
This rate was established in 1999 and is as follows;
Within City of Dubuque Limits $ 0.060 per gallon
Out of City of Dubuque Limits $ 0.090 per gallon
Car Wash Out of City of Dubuque Limits $ 0.090 per gallon
The proposed rate structure is as follows;
Within City of Dubuque Limits $ 0.070 per gallon
Out of City of Dubuque Limits $ 0.100 per gallon
Car Wash Grit Trap Waste $ 0.150 per gallon
The proposed resolution would cover the increasing cost of treatment for hauled
septage, and increasing disposal fees for grit associated with car wash waste.
RECOMMENDATION
It is requested that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution at their March 14tH
2016 City Council meeting to update the rate structure for Private Haulers discharging
waste (septic, car wash) to the W&RRC.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Dubuque, Iowa establishes certain rates
for the disposal of private wastes (septic, car wash) pursuant to the schedule of rates
below.

Out of City of Dubuque Limits
Car Wash Grit Trap Waste
$ 0.070 per gallon
$ 0.100 per gallon
$ 0.150 per gallon
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA THAT:
Section 1. The given rate schedule shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
