Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware recommends City Council acceptance of the
donation from Dubuque County of Lot 2 of Subdivision of Lot 6 of John Breakey's
Dubuque located adjacent to Southern Park.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to accept the donation of Lot 2 of Subdivision of
Lot 6 of John Breakey's Dubuque located adjacent to Southern Park from Dubuque
County.
DISCUSSION
Assistant City Attorney Crenna Brumwell has been working to review problem, vacant
and foreclosed properties in the City of Dubuque. As a part of the project Crenna
reached out to Dubuque County to see if they held title to any property in the City of
Dubuque that they would be interested in deeding to the City.
Lot 2 of Subdivision of Lot 6 of John Breakey's Dubuque was found to be directly
adjacent to Southern Park. Park Division Manager Steve Fehsal and I reviewed this lot
and determined it is an appropriate lot to add to the footprint of Southern Park.
Southern Park surrounds this small lot on three sides.
RECOMMENDATION
I respectfully recommend accepting the deed and adopting the resolution.

RESOLUTION NO. 87-16
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DEED TO CERTAIN REAL ESTATE IN DUBUQUE
COUNTY, IOWA FROM DUBUQUE COUNTY, IOWA
WHEREAS, Dubuque County, Iowa owned Parcel No. 1036210025 (the Property)
legally described as:
LOT 2 OF THE SUBDIVISION OF LOT 6 OF JOHN BREAKEY'S
DUBUQUE IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA ACCORDING TO THE
RECORDED PLAT THEREOF
WHEREAS, the City currently owns Parcel No. 1036208017 which surrounds the
Property on three sides and operates Parcel No. 1036208017 as Southern Park; and
WHEREAS, accepting the deed for the Property will increase the size of Southern
Park and is in the best interest of the City and Dubuque County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The City of Dubuque hereby accepts the Deed from Dubuque County,
Iowa, a copy of which is attached hereto.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to record this
Resolution and Deed with the Dubuque County Recorder.
