Re: Brownfields Redevelopment Fund
Dear Senator Connolly:
We understand this is a difficult budget year for the State of Iowa, and realize that you
and our Dubuque area legislators are struggling with many budget proposals from both
parties.
We also are well aware, as we continue our work of assembling properties for
redevelopment in the "Port of Dubuque", of the substantial costs involved in acquisition
and environmental clean up of these properties. Almost every property in the area has
some type of environmental issue.
For that reason we are asking for your support of an appropriation for the Brownfield
Redevelopment Fund. Two years ago, the City of Dubuque used a similar State
program to assist in the redevelopment of property for Eagte Window and Door. Last
year, the City of Maquoketa received funding through this program.
If there is any possible way for you and our entire Dubuque area delegation to continue
to support the $2 million appropriation currently in the Iowa Department of Economic
Service People Integrity Responsibility Innovation Teamwork
