The League is the lead on the grant but the City of Dubuque will support and partner in this effort to create a market-based offset system in the State of Iowa that has the ability to be replicated in the Mississippi River Basin. The City of Dubuque's motto is"Masterpiece on the Mississippi"and our community takes the River's health very seriously. We anticipate that a successful framework created through this grant project will result in the same environmental impact within watersheds that flow into the Mississippi but provide flexibility in working with agricultural producers to reduce costs to the ratepayers within our city. Our work within our watersheds have garnered national recognition and this project will continue our efforts in creating a more Sustainable Dubuque. Specifically, the City of Dubuque will provide$257,420 in total match, which we understand is the current need, over the three years of the grant from activities associated with sponsored projects funds from the State Revolving Loan Fund in the Catfish Creek watershed.During the reporting period, October 1",2015 and through March 31",2016 the City of Dubuque did not perform grant matching activities toward the project. We do however anticipate providing the full amount of match within the total grant period. The City of Dubuque submits this communication with the understanding that it will be included in the Iowa League of Cities' report as required per the USDA-NRCS CIG Program reporting requirements.
