Information Services Manager Chris Kohlmann received the Achievements in Her Field
Award at the Women's Leadership Network's ninth annual Women of Achievement Awards
banquet. It was held on April 14, 2016 at the Grand River Center, with more than 200
people in attendance.
The Awards ceremony is designed to recognize and honor women who have already, or
aspire to, provide significant contributions in their professional, personal and volunteer roles
in the community.
This can be evidenced by contributions to addressing significant issues, being a positive
influence in the community, applying creativity or innovation in solving problems,
overcoming challenges, mentoring colleagues or others, and sustaining a record of
accomplishments in and contributions to her field, according to the Network.
Twelve women were honored with awards in these six categories:
• Achievements in Her Field: Accomplishments go beyond a single organization and
contribute favorably to an industry or profession.
• Organizational Impact: Efforts and achievements within her place of employment
have significantly impacted the quality or enhanced the performance of the
organization.
• Growth &Accomplishments in Personal Life: Accomplishments and/or obstacles
have significantly enhanced the candidate's personal life.
• Service & Support of Non-Profit Work: Contributes time and effort within her non-
profit place of employment or through personal volunteer efforts in her community.
• Unsung Champion: A behind-the-scenes woman that without her efforts, her
organization could not have succeeded.
• Up & Coming Leader: A young leader, typically between the ages of 21 to 40, who
is demonstrating dynamic leadership ability within her organization or community.
Other award winners from the City of Dubuque include: Assistant City Manager Teri
Goodmann in 2008 for Service & Support of Community, Planning Services Manager Laura
Carstens in 2015 for Unsung Champion, and Circles Coach Ermina Soler in 2012 for
Growth & Accomplishments in Personal Life.
Chris' nomination was submitted by Assistant City Manager Cindy Steinhauser.
