BACKGROUND The City of Dubuque, Iowa contracts a pavement marking project annually to furnish, install, maintain, and remove permanent pavement markings to include Lines and Symbols and Legends on City of Dubuque streets as directed by the Engineering Department. DISCUSSION The project involves the removal and/or installation of permanent pavement markings on streets designated by City Engineering. Pavement markings are applied using a waterborne paint with a life of two (2) years. The Pavement Marking Project is completed annually due to a more rapid deterioration on high volume, high vehicular movement roadways. As part of an Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) request, the City of Dubuque will include portions of Iowa DOT pavement markings with this project, due to Iowa DOT staff limitations and required nighttime work. This request would include all Symbols and Legends and a portion of Lines on Iowa DOT routes within the City of Dubuque. Payment will be made by the Iowa DOT, per amended 28E agreement, for their share of project costs to the City of Dubuque after the final project acceptance. BID RESULTS Sealed bids were received on the project on April 21, 2016. SELCO, Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa submitted the low bid in the amount of $117,843.63.
