SUBJECT: Port of Dubuque Marina Monthly Report — June
DATE: JUIy 11th, 2016
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Port of Dubuque Marina Monthly
Report through the month of June, 2016.
BACKGROUND
The Port of Dubuque Marina enjoyed a busy month of June with the return of America's
River Fest, the two traveling replica Columbus ships and an annual Julien Dubuque
Yacht Club event. All of the Marina docks were rented for the Saturday of America's
River Fest, and almost all were rented for that Friday too. Boat owners enjoy the
convenience at atmosphere of docking at the Marina and being able to walk to the
festival. The two traveling replica Columbus ships The Nina and Pinta returned to
Dubuque after three years, and docked in the Marina for ten days. During their stay the
Columbus ships were open to the public for self-guided tours, and drew many non-
boaters to the Marina. The Julien Dubuque Yacht Club held an annual rendezvous at
the Marina during a weekend in June which was also well attended by boats.
DISCUSSION
The following graph shows the increase in Marina store revenue during the first three
months of the Marina season (April — June) over the past four seasons. This season's
increase is most likely due to the increase in pedestrian traffic brought by the replica
Columbus ships.
