Official Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Dubuque County
Emergency Management Commission, Cascade Fire Station
May 17th, 2016
Meeting Called to Order
The regular meeting of the Dubuque County Emergency Management Commission was called to order at 6:47 p.m. by
Chairperson Mike Wuertzer. Chair Wuertzer welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked them for attending.
Determination of Quorum
Sign in sheets were distributed. After introductions it was determined that we had a quorum with 10 jurisdictions
present.
Mike Wuertzer, Marty Benda,Jim Wessels,Tom Berger, Rob Weidenbacher, Mike Wuertzer, Denny Green,Chris Tigges,
Nick Jaeger, Frank Lahey, Rick Steines,and Jeff Bohle.
Resolution 16-02 Approving Application to Iowa, Homeland Security and Emergency
Management to update the Dubuque County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation
Plan
Tom updated the commission on the Hazard Mitigation Plan Process. Our current plan is valid until 2018. The state will
be requesting proposals to update multiple plans in the state and EMA commissions are able to sign on with their
proposals. The commission will be responsible for the local cash match of$7,500.00 and the grant will provide
$22,500.00 for a total of$30,000.00 to update the plan for Dubuque County. The budget committee will look at the
$7,500 match to see if we should increase our annual allocation from the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors.A
motion was made by Rob Weidenbacher and second by Jim Wessels to approve the resolution and submit the
application with the State of Iowa HSEMD. Motion carried.

The next regular meeting of the Dubuque County Emergency Management Commission will be held on Tuesday,August
2nd, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Dubuque County Firefighters Association Regional Emergency Responder Training Facility—
Classroom West.

A motion was made by Jeff Bohle, second Marty Benda to adjourn the meeting at 6:51 p.m. Motion carried.
