Whereas, community planning provides an opportunity for all residents to be meaningfully
involved in making choices that determine the future of their community; and
Whereas, the full benefits of community planning require public officials and residents who
understand and support civic engagement in planning and plan implementation;
and
Whereas, we recognize the participation and dedication of past and present members of
the City of Dubuque's Long Range Planning Advisory Commission who have
contributed their time and expertise to the improvement of the community; and
Whereas, we recognize the many valuable contributions made by professional community
and regional planners of the Dubuque metropolitan area; and
Whereas, the City of Dubuque's Comprehensive Planning process, entitled "Imagine
Dubuque", is the next step in creating a sustainable, resilient, inclusive and
equitable legacy for generations to come; and
Whereas, October 25t" is the date of the first in a series of interactive public workshops
focused on gathering and refining input as part of "Imagine Dubuque."
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2016 AS:
"COMMUNITY PLANNING MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City
of Dubuque to be affixed this 17th day of
October, 2016.
