Van Milligen, City Manager Randy Peck, Personnel Manager FROM: John Klostermann, Public Works Director SUBJECT: Equipment Operator I Posting DATE: October 4, 2016 j Introduction The purpose of this memorandum is to request the posting of an Equipment Operator I position to replace the current open Maintenance Worker position. Discussion In an ongoing effort to align position classification titles and civil service tests with actual work responsibilities, the Public Works Department in the past has eliminated posting the Maintenance Worker position and has posted the Operator I position in its place. Currently, civil service test questions for the position of Maintenance Worker tend to be based more on work generally performed by employees assigned to park maintenance while test questions for the Operator I position are based more on work done by employees assigned to duties related to maintaining the infrastructure and the Public Works Department. This change will have no budget impact since both positions are at salary grade GD-06. i Action Required I am seeking your consideration and approval for this job posting. i I
