The American Water Works Association-Iowa Section has announced that Water
Department Manager Bob Green is the recipient of the 2016 Award for Outstanding
Service to the American Water Works Association-Iowa Section. The Outstanding
Service Award recognizes members for outstanding service to the Association through
leadership and active participation in the American Water Works Association-Iowa
Section programs.
American Water Works Association Iowa Section Board of Directors Chairperson Roy
Hesemann will attend the City Council meeting to present the award to Bob Green.

INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this memorandum is to inform you that I am the recipient of the
American Water Works Association's Iowa Section 2106 Award for Outstanding
Service.
DISCUSSION:
The American Water Works Association's Iowa Section (AWWA—IA) presented the 2016
Award for Outstanding Service to me. I received the award October 5, 2016 during the
101St AWWA—IA annual conference award dinner at Prairie Meadows Hotel and
Conference Center in Altoona Iowa. I have attached, for your review, the news release
from the AWWA-IA regarding this year's award.

AWWA-IA Section Presents Bob Green 2016 Outstanding Service Award
October 11,2016 Des Moines,IA-The American Water Works Association-Iowa Section
(AWWA-IA)has announced Bob Green as the recipient of the 2016 Award for Outstanding
Service to AWWA-IA. He received the award October 5,2016 at the 101St AWWA-IA Annual
Conference during the Awards Dinner at Prairie Meadows Hotel and Conference Center in
Altoona,IA. Green currently serves as the Water Department Manager for the City of
Dubuque,Iowa.
About the Award
The Outstanding Service Award recognizes AWWA-IA members for outstanding service to
the Association through leadership and active participation in AWWA-IA section programs.
The men and women nominated also exemplify the best in the water industry by
continually bringing credit to the profession and the water community.
About the Winner ,
Bob Green joined the City of Dubuque Staff in June 1992. He supervises the city's water
treatment and water distribution operations. Green has course work in chemistry and
water system hydraulics from the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. He
currently holds a Grade IV Water Treatment and Grade IV Water Distribution License with
the State of Iowa. Green has served as the Iowa American Water Works Association Region
I Chairperson,Iowa American Water Works Water Utility Council Chairperson,and Board
member of the Iowa Section of the American Water Works from 2006-2012,serving as
Chair in 2011.
Green has been a conference speaker on the state and national level for the American Water
Works Association. His professional background includes,but is not limited to the following
positions:Assistant Superintendent of Water Distribution for Orange County Public Utilities,
Orlando,Florida; Water Distribution Manager,City of Mason City,Iowa; and Water
Distribution Manager for Mahaska Rural Water,Oskaloosa,Iowa.
"Bob is more than deserving of this award,"said Dave Scott,Executive Director,AWWA-IA.
"He has provided service and leadership to the Iowa Section since becoming a member
through his tireless participation and leadership at both the state and regional levels."

professionals and water quality advocates dedicated to the promotion of quality drinking
water for the citizens of Iowa. Its purpose is to support its members and young

Board of Directors Chairperson, Roy Hesemann. Roy, the Water Pollution Control
Facility Manager for the City of Cedar Rapids, has kindly offered to travel here on
Monday, November 7, 2016 to present the 2106 Award for Outstanding Service to me at
our City Council Meeting.

Green Receives Outstanding Service Award
DUBUQUE, Iowa — The American Water Works Association-Iowa Section (AWWA-IA) has
awarded its 2016 Award for Outstanding Service to AWWA-IA to City of Dubuque Water
Department Manager Bob Green. He received the award at the 101 st AWWA-IA Annual
Conference in Altoona, Iowa, on Oct. 5, 2016.
The Outstanding Service Award recognizes AWWA-IA members for outstanding service to
the association through leadership and active participation in AWWA-IA section programs.
Recipients exemplify the best in the water industry by continually bringing credit to the
profession and the water community.
Green joined the City of Dubuque staff in June 1992 and supervises the City's water
treatment and water distribution operations. His professional background includes positions
as assistant superintendent of water distribution for Orange County Public Utilities,
Orlando, Fla.; water distribution manager for the City of Mason City, Iowa; and water
distribution manager for Mahaska Rural Water, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Green completed
coursework in chemistry and water system hydraulics from the University of Iowa and Iowa
State University. He holds a Grade IV Water Treatment and Grade IV Water Distribution
License with the State of Iowa.
Green has served as the Iowa American Water Works Association Region I Chairperson,
Iowa American Water Works Water Utility Council Chairperson, and board member of the
